BRITTANY SHELTON
Jamestown High School

Brittany SheltonArt has always been an integral part of my life. Both of my parents are artistic and have encouraged me and my sisters to be creative, also. Working on my art has always been one of my favorite activities. I find happiness in taking materials and transforming them into pieces of artwork, watching the progression from blank page to finished product.

Brittany SheltonI focus on technique and realism, translating what I can see and visualize into a workable medium. Some of my favorite subjects are people. I have done a lot of portraiture, working not only to capture a physical likeness, but hopefully to convey the range of emotions that humans feel. I also love working with textures such as drawing the softness of a sweater, the smoothness of skin or metal, or the roughness of a rusted machine. It is very gratifying to create a piece of work that the viewer can gain a sense of feeling or reality from.

I plan to continue drawing and creating art throughout the rest of my life. I am going to attend a small, traditional art college so I can further my skills as an artist and perhaps work myself to the point where I can make a living by doing something I love. Art will always have an influence on my life. From how I view the world and translate it into my work, to how I live in that world and experience all it has to offer.
